Macau attends meeting on the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area

Macau’s Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, is due to lead a delegation from Macau to Hong Kong on Thursday to attend the launch of the General Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay.

The Vice-Chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Lin Nianxiu, Guangdong Province Governor Ma Xingrui and Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng-Yuet-ngor are also due to attend the meeting.

Guo Lanfeng, managing director of the NDRC Regional Department of Economics will announce the details of the plan that have yet to be disclosed.

During the meeting, Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On will speak on the measures that the special administrative region has already taken in the framework of the Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay.

In his speech he will address the holding of the first edition of the Youth Forum on the Greater Bay, the preparation of an annex to the Five-Year Development Plan of the MSAR, the content of which was focused on adapting to the development of the Greater Bay and the creation in November 2018 of the Commission for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay which will coordinate the general plans and short, medium and long-term preparatory work for Macau’s participation in the Greater Bay area.

The Macau delegation includes representatives of Macau, including members of the Government Executive Council and members of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Leong Vai Tac and the Director of the Policy and Regional Development Study Services, Mi Jian are part of the delegation.
