Macau received more than 3.4 million visitors in January 2019, an increase of 24.9% year on year and a decrease of 4.1% compared to December 2018, according to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
The average length of stay was 1.2 days, down by 0.1 days year-on-year.
In January, 2.5 million visitors from Mainland China came into Macau, up by 29.9%. Most were from the provinces of Guangdong (1.1 million), Hunan (98,000) and Fujian (79,000).
The number of visitors arriving by land (2.5 million) in January saw a significant increase of 60.3% on year, with 1.8 million coming through Portas do Cerco, an increase of 33.1% and 443,900 visitors arriving via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
In 2018, Macau received 35.8 million visitors, a new yearly record and a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. (macauhub)
