Number of cars entering Macau via Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge increases by almost 20% in January

The number of cars entering Macau using the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge reached 15,769 in January 2019, an increase of 19.67% compared to December 2018, according to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.

In the first month of the year 457,000 cars entered Macau through the border posts, most of which, more than 298,000, arrived at Portas do Cerco, the first and main border with Mainland China.

At Macau International Airport there were 5,750 commercial flights, up 14.2% compared to January 2018, with the number of flights between Macau and Mainland China totalling 2,297 or an additional 25.0 % year-on-year, while the number of flights between Macau and Taiwan was 1,089, down 3.8%.

The number of cars registered in Macau increased by 1.4% to 108,757 in January 2019, with motorcycles increasing by 1.3% on year to 98,132, with mopeds falling by 9.4% to just over 26,000.

Macau had 427.5 kilometres of streets and roads at the end of 2019.

At the end of January 2019, there were 123,000 fixed line telephone users and 2.1 million mobile phone users, with decreases of 5.6% and 6.7%, respectively, compared to the end of January. 2018, as well as 546,700 registered users of Internet access services, an increase of 6.6%. (Macauhub)
