A major promotion of Macau as a tourist destination is due to begin on 12 March in Lisbon with the presentation of a video mapping show called “Macau, a legendary trip” in Praça do Comércio in downtown Lisbon, the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) said.

The video mapping projections will take place every night until 16 March, organised by the MGTO, in partnership with the Lisbon City Council.

The trip to Portugal will take place during the 2019 Lisbon Tourism Exchange (BTL), from 13 to 17 March, a fair in which Macau will be in the spotlight as International Guest Destination this year.

To capitalise on the increased attention brought to Macau by BTL, a series of activities will be held in Lisbon and Porto to update Macau’s image as a tourist destination, as well as to mark this special year in which the city celebrates the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

The Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) also selected Macau as Favourite Destination 2019, further focusing the Portuguese tourism industry on Macau during BTL and throughout the year.

The MGTO is taking part in BTL with an exhibition stand on the theme “Feel Macau in Your Way” and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macau SAR.

The stand will showcase the city’s heritage, with Macanese cuisine and Macau as the UNESCO Creative City for Gastronomy. (Macauhub)
