The Lunar New Year holidays and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge led to the number of people who visited Macau in February rising by 15.5% year-on-year and 3.5% in monthly terms, according to the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau.
The average length of stay of the 3.54 million visitors was one day, a fall of 0.1 days compared with February 2018, due to a rise in the proportion of day-trippers to 57.4%.
In February, 2.55 million visitors from mainland China arrived in Macau, up 11.9% year-on-year, mostly from the provinces of Guangdong (1.13 million), Zhejiang (100,520) and Hubei (90,230).
In the first two months of the year, 6.97 million visitors visited the country, 19.9% more than in the same period of last year, of which 5.6 million were from Mainland China and 1.19 million from Hong Kong. (Macauhub)
