The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will visit Macau on 30 April and 1 May, a Macau government spokesman said.
The visit to Macau is part of a State visit that the Portuguese President will make to China, at the invitation of the country’s President, Xi Jinping, with the Macau Special Administrative Region (Macau SAR) one of the stops Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will make.
The Chief Executive, Chui Sai On, will have a meeting with the Portuguese President during his visit to Macau and will host a welcome reception for Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and his delegation.
The President of the Republic of Portugal will take part in the 2nd “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation, to be held in the capital of China from 25 to 27 April.
The Forum will be attended by 37 heads of state or government, including Macau’s chief executive Fernando Chui Sai On, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday.
From 11 to 19 May, it is the turn of Macau’s Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, to make an official visit to Portugal heading a territorial government delegation, with activities in Lisbon and Porto.
Chui Sai On will be received in an audience by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and later by Prime Minister António Costa, with whom he “will exchange ideas about the consolidation of friendly relations between Macau and Portugal and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.”
The Chief Executive will also co-chair the 6th meeting of the Macau-Portugal Joint Commission with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, to promote collaboration in various fields. (Macauhub)
