The Mozambique LNG1 Company has signed a natural gas purchase agreement with JERA Co. of Japan and CPC Corporation of Taiwan, the Anadarko Petroleum Corporation reported in Houston.
The agreement stipulates that the Rovuma Basin Area 1 consortium in northern Mozambique will provide 1.6 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas over a 17-year period starting from the launch of commercial exploration of the deposits.
This contract signed by Mozambique LNG1 Company Pte. Ltd., the sales arm of the block’s partners, increases the amount of firm sales of LNG to 11.1 million tonnes per year.
The Area 1 block is operated by Anadarko Mozambique Area 1, Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Anadarko Petroleum group, with a 26.5% stake, ENH Rovuma Area One, a subsidiary of state-owned Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, with 15%, Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area1 Ltd(20%), ONGC Videsh Ltd. (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique BV (10%), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited (8.5%). (Macauhub)
