Angola and China will intensify high-level visits to strengthen political confidence and relaunch bilateral cooperation in areas such as industry, agriculture, fisheries, mining and education, the country’s new ambassador said on Wednesday in Luanda.
Gong Tao said China is ready to expand bilateral cooperation in several areas, “especially as the current government of Angola is implementing good policies for diversifying the economy and attracting more foreign investment in industry and agriculture.”
The new ambassador, at the end of an audience granted by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, acknowledged that Angola is in a new phase of development with the policies of opening up to the outside world and economic reforms to create an environment focused on sustainable development and attracting foreign investment.
Trade between the two countries totalled US$27.755 billion in 2018, with China being Angola’s main trading partner and the biggest importer of Angolan oil. (Macauhub)
