The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will continue to promote economic cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, the new president of the institution said on Tuesday.

Irene Va Kuan Lau, speaking at the inauguration ceremony as chair of the Board of Directors of IPIM, a position she had held as substitute since October 2018, also noted support for the development of the convention and exhibition industry and active participation in regional cooperation under the “Belt and Road” and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay.

Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance Leong Vai Tac said on the occasion that IPIM is one of the organisations in Macau, “with an important and long-term mission” of “participation and support” for China’s “Belt and Road,” initiative and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay, through the enhancement of the territory’s role as “a service platform for trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.”     (Macauhub)
