Italian group ENI has made a fifth oil discovery in block 15/06 in Angola’s deep waters, following the Kalimba, Afoxé, Agogo and Ndungu wells, the group said in a statement released on Monday in Milan.
The statement said that the five discoveries contain an estimated 1.8 billion barrels of light oil, and the latest one should contain between 300 million and 400 million barrels.
This last well, Agidigbo-1 NFW, was drilled at a water depth of 275 metres and reached the total depth of 3,800 metres.
The statement added that the potential of this new discovery is scheduled to be assessed at the beginning of 2020.
The ENI group is the operator of Block 15/06, with a stake of 36.8421%, and the remaining partners are Sonangol P&P (36.8421%) and SSI Fifteen Limited (26.3158%).
Angola is a strategic country for the organic growth of the Italian group, where it has been present since 1980 and currently produces around 150,000 barrels of oil per day. (Macauhub)
