Macau received a total of 397,100 tourists during the Dragon Boat Festival from 7 to 9 June, an increase of 58.8% on year, according to official information.
The festival was celebrated in Mainland China with a three-day holiday, with Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan having a holiday last Friday.
The increase in the number of tourists exceeded the forecast of the Tourism Bureau, which had anticipated annual growth of around 30%.
During the three days of the festival, Macau’s border posts registered 1.7 million people, including visitors, local residents, non-resident workers and mainland students enrolled in local educational establishments.
The Portas do Cerco and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge were the busiest border posts, with visitors from the mainland and Hong Kong making up most of the total. (Macauhub)
