More than 17.18 million people visited Macau from January to May, representing a year-on-year increase of 21.0%, according to the Statistics and Census Bureau, which added that the average visitor stay was 1.2 days, a drop of 0.1 days in comparison to the year-ago period.
The number of visitors from Mainland China (12.21 million), South Korea (389.38 million), Hong Kong (3.07 million) and Taiwan increased by 22.7%, 6.3% , 22.9% and 2.2%, respectively, with visitors from the United States (89,220), Australia (42,380), Canada (35,130) and of the United Kingdom (26,588) also rose.
In May 2019, 3.39 million visitors arrived in Macau, an increase of 25.6% year-on-year, with visitors staying 1.2 days, down 0.1 days on year.
In the month under analysis, a significant drop of 39.2% was recorded in the number of visitors arriving in Macau by sea, mostly from Hong Kong, with visitors arriving on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge reaching 517,060. (Macauhub)
