Private sector should be the driving force of economic growth in Angola

10 July 2019

The Angolan government is committed to creating conditions for the private sector to take on its role as the driver of economic growth, said the minister of State for Economic Coordination, in a speech delivered on Tuesday in Luanda.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2019 edition of the Luanda International Fair (Filda), which will run until Saturday in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone in Viana, Minister Manuel Nunes Júnior invited the participating companies to invest and create conditions to settle in the country.

The 35th edition of Filda, jointly organised by the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the company Eventos Arena, is attended by 785 Angolan and foreign companies from 21 countries and the territory of Macau, including Portugal and Germany, which have the highest number of participants.

The minister, speaking on behalf of the President of the Republic, also urged foreign businesspeople to trust the government’s work in Angola, which is undergoing a period of reform that will help improve the business environment and facilitate the work of foreign investors.

Nunes Júnior gave the example of the Investor Visa, which allows multiple entries, as well as leave to remain and temporary residence. (Macauhub)
