Fifteen countries have already confirmed their participation in this year’s edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM), with organisers expecting to exceed numbers for 2018, according Mozambique’s export and investment promotion agency Aipex.
Jaime Nicolas, coordinator of the FACIM 2019 organisation, said, without giving concrete figures, that “this edition will be far better than 2018,” according to Mozambican newspaper O País.
The idea, said the coordinator, is to exceed the number of exhibiting companies in the 54th edition, which was 1,386, as well as having more than the 24 countries and 40,000 visitors seen in 2018.
Recent developments in the oil and gas industry, notably the Final Investment Decision by the consortium led by US oil company Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for the Rovuma Area 1 block on 14 June, are the biggest attraction of the Maputo International Fair.
This year’s edition of the 55th International Maputo Fair runs from 26 August to 1 September in the Ricatla venue, Marracuene district, under the motto “Mozambique and the world: Expanding the market, promoting investment and fostering partnerships.” (Macauhub)
