Total assets of the Macau Social Security Fund stood at 79.854 billion patacas (US$9.981 billion) at the end of 2018, a year-on-year increase of 3.16%, according to the Social Security Fund Annual Report for last year.
2018 was also the year in which the non-compulsory central pension scheme came into force and, following more than two hundred briefing sessions, over 100 companies joined the pension schemes and over 36,000 people set up individual plans.
The revenues of the Macau Social Security Fund in 2018 totalled 8.116 billion patacas (US$1.014 billion), while total expenditure amounted to 5.672 billion patacas, generating a surplus of 2.443 billion patacas.
Fundamental expenditures focused on social security benefits, which accounted for 72.34% of the total, or 4.103 billion patacas and 134,700 beneficiaries.
The number of beneficiaries in 2018 represents an increase of 9,623 people compared to 2017, or 7.7% more. (Macauhub)
