The President of China praised Macau for successfully applying the “One Country, Two Systems” principle as he welcomed the Chief Executive of the Fifth Government of Macau, Ho Iat Seng, to the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping also said that Macau is a successful example of that principle, “with the quality of life of the population improving and society as a whole remaining stable and harmonious.”

The Chinese President added that former and current Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah and Chui Sai On have succeeded in uniting society and achieving high economic growth.

On Wednesday in Beijing Ho Iat Seng received from Prime Minister Li Keqiang the decree of the State Council appointing him as Chief Executive of the 5th Government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).

Li Keqiang said that since the administration of Macau returned to China, the territory has seen rapid economic and social development and the standard of living of residents has been steadily increasing and improving. (Macauhub)
