Total revenues of Macau’s gaming sector reached 304.71 billion patacas (US$38.088 billion) in 2018, up 13.7% year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Bureau.
Revenues from gaming and related services reached 304.18 billion patacas, up 13.6% year-on-year, with gaming revenues (302.86 billion patacas) up 13.6% and restaurants and catering (541 million patacas) decreasing by 4.6%.
Interest income amounted to 526 million patacas, a sharp 258.3% increase due to the substantial increase in corporate deposits and loans.
Total sector expenditure stood at 127.80 billion patacas, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%, according to the Statistics and Census Bureau.
Expenses related to purchases of goods, commissions paid and offers to customers totaled 68.97 billion patacas (54.0% of total expenses), up 13.3% and operating expenses totalled 31.84 billion patacas (24.9% of total expenditure), up 14.0%.
Personnel expenses increased 4.9% to 22.37 billion patacas (17.5%) and non-operating expenses (such as depreciation and interest paid) totalled 4.62 billion patacas, down 2.9% over 2017.
Gross value-added, which reflects the sector’s economic contribution, amounted to 203.38 billion patacas, up 13.6% year-on-year and was the highest since 2014. (Macauhub)
