26 September 2019

The Macau Government Secretary for Economy and Finance stated that the industrialisation and international development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are highly valued by the government and promote the diversification of the local economy.

Speaking at the opening of the 2019 International Cooperation Forum on Traditional Medicine (Macau, China), Leong Vai Tac said that the Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Scientific and Industrial Park (GMTCM), located in Hengquin, Zhuhai municipality, has entered a new phase of development conducive to innovation and research.

The Secretary of the Government of Macau also noted that the GMTCM Park helps domestic and foreign high-quality companies and products to expand abroad while attracting the entry of new companies and products, with Macau assuming its role as a platform and bridge for commercial services between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries.

Lu Hong, GMTCM Park’s president and chief executive, said that in terms of international cooperation, six traditional Chinese medicine products had been registered abroad, including those of Macau companies, and extended the model of cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries such as Cabo Verde, and progress was made in promoting the culture and techniques of Chinese medicine in Portuguese-speaking countries and the rest of the world.

The Forum includes representatives of Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as industry figures from mainland China, Guangdong Province, Macau, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the European Union and Portugal. (Macauhub)
