The Exhibition of Products and Services of Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau) 2019 (2019PLPEX) will feature an exhibition area for the work on the cooperation platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, according to a decision approved in 2018, said the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM).

The decision, adopted during the third plenary meeting of the Commission for the Development of the Platform for Trade Cooperation Services between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries, is intended to raise awareness of the work carried out by this commission between 2016 and 2019, in Implementation of the Action Plan and the various measures proposed by the Central Government at the 5th Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macau),” as well as the outlook for the future .

2019PLPEX, which will continue to be held at the same time as the Macau International Fair (MIF), will be attended by around 250 exhibiting companies from mainland China, the eight Portuguese-speaking countries and the Chinese regions of Hong Kong and Macau, which will promote food, beverages, e-commerce, computer technology, daily necessities, handicrafts, building materials, sporting goods, etc.

The event will include agent meetings and promotion sessions, among other initiatives, which are a platform where companies from all over the world can establish direct contact, as well as create business opportunities to spread the role of Macau as a “Portuguese-speaking Food Products Distribution Centre” and support Portuguese-speaking countries in expanding their business into the mainland China market.

In addition, various professional forums and seminars will be organised at the fair, including the “Young Entrepreneurs Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” to help entrepreneurs from these countries to make the most of development opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and promote the growth of Macau’s own financial industry.

PLPEX became independent for the first time in 2017, exclusively advertising products and services from Portuguese-speaking countries and boosting Macau’s role as a platform between China and those countries.

The 2018PLPEX saw its exhibition area nearly doubled to 6,000 square metres. Over the course of the three days of PLPEX and the 23rd MIF, more than 30 forums, meetings and promotion sessions were held together, and 75 agreements and more than 400 business meetings were organised. (Macauhub)
