17 October 2019

The Cape Verdean Council of Ministers has approved a decree laying down the rules for the concession of the airport service that will allow the concession of international airport and aerodrome services under the management of airport and air safety company ASA, said the spokesperson for the meeting held in Mindelo.

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Minister for Sport, Fernando Elísio Freire, said that the approval of this decree is a result of the approval in parliament of Law 64/9/2019 of 12 August, which established the Legal Regime for Public Airport and Civil Aviation Support Concession.

“The purpose of this concession is to increase the number of passengers, increase the number of aircraft, enable Cabo Verde to be effectively an air traffic platform, a free trade zone and promote business tourism,” the minister told the Inforpress news agency.

Fernando Elísio Freire gave assurances that Cabo Verde’s interests “are fully safeguarded” in the diploma and added that the government, will now start negotiating the draft contract and subsequent concession. (Macauhub)
