Macau’s trade deficit totalled 54.679 billion patacas (US$6.834 billion) at the end of September 2019, up 3.85% from 56.870 billion in 2018, the Statistics and Census Bureau said.
Macau exports from January to September amounted to 9.393 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, of which re-exports accounted for 88.6% of the total, with imports totaling 64.072 billion, down 2.5% from 65.941 billion a year earlier.
Products exported by Macau to the “Belt and Road” countries (183 million patacas) and Portuguese-speaking countries (1 million patacas) decreased by 2.8% and 95.0% respectively and imports from these two blocs, totalling 10.80 billion patacas and 637 million patacas, grew by 107.4% and 9.2%, respectively.
In September, the balance of trade reached 6.53 billion patacas, due to exports of 1.020 billion patacas and imports of 7.548 billion patacas. (Macauhub)
