China is currently training more than 200 Angolan students every year through scholarships in the fields of engineering, technology and agronomy, among others, said the Chinese embassy’s advisory minister and business attaché recently.
Li Bin, who was speaking during the delivery of certificates to 70 students who took part in the Mandarin essay contest on the theme “My Story with China,” said many of these Angolans that have already graduated are in the Angolan civil service, noting that, based on the knowledge gained, they have helped Angola to become a different country with modern infrastructure.
The advisory minister and business attaché stressed that, with a command of the Chinese language, Angolans can strengthen their relationship with China faster and in a more viable way.
The director of the Confucius Institute, Ren Bing, said the institution currently has 300 registered students, with only eight Chinese teachers and two Angolans who studied in China.
More than 500 Angolans were trained over in three years by the Confucius Institute, located on the Agostinho Neto University Campus, in a partnership between the Angolan and Chinese Governments for the Education sector. (Macauhub)
