6 December 2019

Vale Moçambique, a subsidiary of Brazilian group Vale, was regarded as the largest company in Mozambique in 2018, according to a 2019 study by KPMG Auditores e Consultores.

This is the second consecutive year that the company that operates the Moatize coal mine, in the central province of Tete, and the Nacala Logistics Corridor, in the north, has topped the list of the 100 largest companies in Mozambique.

In second place is the Mozal aluminium smelting plant, followed by electricity company Electricidade de Moçambique, in third place.

“The 100 largest companies in Mozambique” has been Mozambique’s main business publication since 1998 and is intended to promote transparency and to recognise excellence.

The minister of Industry and Trade, Ragendra de Sousa, speaking at the presentation ceremony of the study, said that it contributes to increased transparency in the business environment, providing the public with objective information about the performance of companies in the market. (macauhub)
