Government, employers and workers from Mozambique prepare negotiation on minimum wages

The negotiations to set new minimum wages in Mozambique, involving the government, the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique the Organisation of Workers in Mozambique, will be conducted between February and March, reported the Mozambican press.

Mozambican daily newspaper O País reported that the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique has already begun to invite representatives of the eight sectors that will be the focus of discussions to take part, and enrolment must be made by 8 February 2005.

The newspaper reported that the wage increase recorded in 2019 was the lowest ever, having surpassed the record of the previous year, who also had been the worst increase until then.

The increase recorded in 2018 ranged between 6.0% and 18.67%, with the increase for the lowest salary of 260 meticais, and in 2019 it ranged between 5.0% and 12%, with the lowest increase being 212 meticais. (macauhub)
