Angolan citizens can now buy foreign currency in the value of up to US$120 thousand dollars per year for travel expenses, transfers of a private nature, including for family support, said the National Bank of Angola.
The central bank also said in a statement that, with the entry into force of the notice no. 12/2019, of 2 January 2020, interested parties do not need to submit a support document.
He added that, for this purpose, it is sufficient to assess the financial capacity of the applicant, within the rules for preventing and combating the crimes of money laundering and terrorist financing.
As a result of this new measure, added the statement, the BNA once again recommends that all citizens conduct foreign exchange operations only in banks or exchange houses, for their own protection.
The BNA noted that this warning is also due to the recurrent identification of counterfeit kwanza and foreign banknotes in circulation in the country, which is a crime in Angola and in the vast majority of countries. (macauhub)
