Macau ends 2019 with more than 240,000 registered vehicles

At the end of 2019, Macau had more than 240,000 vehicles registered, with a slight growth of 0.3% compared with the end of 2018, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.

The Bureau said that the number of cars (109,500) and motorcycles (99,800) rose by 1.0% and 2.0%, respectively, while mopeds (24,000) fell by 8.5%.

The number of registrations of new vehicles was 12,400 in 2019, a fall of 14.4% year on year, with motorcycles (6,410) and cars (5,423) decreasing by 13.1% and 15.2%, respectively.

Macau, with a land area of 32.9 square kilometres, had 448.9 kilometres of roads at the end of 2019.

At the end of December 2019, the number of users of the fixed-line telephone network totalled 116,300, 6.2% fewer than compared with the end of December 2018, and mobile phone users reached 2.7 million, an increase of 28.1%.

For internet services, there were 589,600 subscribers registered in December 2019, an increase of 8.6% on year and 1.59 billion hours of internet services were logged in 2019, an increase of 25.0% compared with 2018. (macauhub)
