Per capita expenditure by people who visited Macao in 2019 totalled 1,626 patacas (US$203), which was a decline of 16.5% compared to the value recorded the previous year, said the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
By country/territory per capita expenditure of visitors from Mainland China (1,834 patacas) fell 18.2% on year, and the same happened to visitors from Hong Kong (954 patacas) and Taiwan (1,377 patacas), with drops of 9.5% and 14.6%, respectively.
The per capita expenditure of visitors from Singapore (1,872 patacas) and South Korea (1,731 patacas) increased by 1.0% and 14.0%, respectively.
The per capita expenditure of visitors on purchases reached 743 patacas (45.7% of total expenditure), with a decline of 19.0% compared to the amount spent in 2018.
The per capita expenditure of visitors on lodging was 422 patacas and on meals stood at 332 patacas, which fell by 15.3% and 14.7%, respectively, year-on-year.
Notably the per capita expenditure of visitors who came to take part in conventions/exhibitions (3,781 patacas) rose 7.8% on year, while the per capita expenditure of visitors who came to shop (2,415 patacas) and spend their holidays (2,268 patacas) decreased 7.8% and 11.1%, respectively. (macauhub)
