In light of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) has donated face masks and medical protective suits to eight member countries of the Forum to help them cope with the epidemic.
On 4 May, the Permanent Secretariat, in partnership with the Macao Association of Chinese Enterprises and the Macao Federal Commercial Association of Wine and Food Industries in Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions, donated medical supplies including 180,000 face masks and over 1,000 protective suits to eight member countries of the Forum in a ceremony held at the Sino-Portuguese Trade Cooperation Services Complex.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat, Ms Xu Yingzhen, noted that the Permanent Secretariat had been doing its best to support Portuguese-speaking countries in their fight against Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic.
In addition to donation of medical supplies, the Permanent Secretariat actively shared information on the epidemic with Portuguese-speaking countries via its website, in a bid to control the spread of the virus.
A total of 15 firms from the Macao Association of Chinese Enterprises took part in the above donation of medical supplies.
