Brazilian aeronautical company Embraer delivered 44 jets in the first quarter of 2016, 21 for commercial aviation companies and 23 executives aircraft, the company said in a statement issued Thursday. The statement said the delivery of these 44 aircraft represented an increase of 37.5 percent over the number in the first quarter of 2015, when it delivered 32 aircraft, 20 for commercial aviation companies and 12 executive jets.

The next business meeting between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries will be held in 2017 in Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), according to a proposal from the Cape Verdean Investment Agency for approved at a meeting in Bissau. The event's promoters expressed satisfaction with efforts made by the institutions involved in the organisation and implementation of this year's meeting and the high level of participation in it, according to a statement read by the meeting's Technical Office coordinator, Bruno Jauad.

The Chinese ambassador in Guinea-Bissau Saturday called for the need to create political stability in the West African country in order to have more Chinese investment. Huang Wa, who was speaking in Bissau during the Meeting of Businesspeople for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, said that China is prepared to place thousands of Chinese businesspeople in Guinea-Bissua but that a business platform that allows business to be conducted needs to be built.

This year Brazil is expected to export over 200,000 tons of beef to China and become the main supplier of this product to the Chinese market, said the president of the Brazilian Refrigeration Association (Abrafrigo). Pericles Salazar said in a statement issued by the association, that although China is facing a period of lower economic growth, beef purchases rose 60 percent in 2015 year on year, "mainly due to the rise of the middle class and new consumer habits."

Guinea-Bissau will receive 150 official and business delegations for a meeting in Bissau of businesspeople from China and the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries, the coordinator of the meeting's technical office said recently. Giving an update on preparations for the meeting, coordinator Bruno Jauad gave assurances that "everything is ready" to welcome the delegations to Bissau on 9, 10 and 11 April.

Next April Guinea-Bissau will host the meeting of businesspeople from China and the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), China's ambassador to Guinea-Bissau confirmed last week. "We note with satisfaction that within the next few days a meeting will take place between Chinese entrepreneurs, including from Macau, with other Portuguese-speaking countries to find ways to foster our cooperation," said Ambassador Huang Hua at the end of an audience with the Guinean Prime Minister, Carlos Correia.

The Export-Import Bank of China (Exim) is considering a request from Mozambique for a loan of US$156 million to accelerate the digital migration process in the country, said the Mozambican Minister for Transport and Communications. The deadline for migration from analogue to digital in Mozambique, initially set for June 2015, was missed, and the government now plans to speed up the process, according to minister Carlos Mesquita, cited by Mozambican newspaper O País.

In February 97 Chinese citizens received a so-called golden visa under Portugal's Residence Permit Programme for Investment (ARI), said Monday in Lisbon the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF). In addition to the Chinese citizens golden visas were granted to 13 people from Brazil, five from Russia, two from South Africa, two from Lebanon and 25 from other countries. 136 of the 144 visas were granted in return for investments in property.

Brazil's preparations to receive tourists from China during the Olympics and Paralympics in 2016 was the focus of a seminar entitled "Welcome Chinese" held recently in the Federal Senate, according to information from the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur). Gilson Lira, Director of Tourism Promotion of Embratur, cited data from the World Tourism Organization as saying that Chinese citizens have been the highest tourism spenders worldwide since 2012.

The Angola/China Chamber of Commerce is due to be officially set up on Thursday, 17 March , during a constituent assembly to be held in the Angolan capital, Luanda, the founding committee said in a statement. The statement cited by Angolan news agency Angop said that the Constituent Assembly was an initiative of a group of legal and individual bodies from the two countries, and that the founding committee is led by Angola's Manuel Arnaldo Calado.

Chinese group HNA, which owns Hainan Airlines, taking a stake in airline TAP - Portugal depends on approval by the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), according to the Portuguese press. The group holds a 23.7 percent in Brazilian airline Azul, the airline that is part of the Atlantic Gateway consortium,which under a memorandum signed in February with the Portuguese government holds a 45 percent stake in TAP. The Portuguese stake owns 50 percent and TAP's workers have 5 percent.

Chinese group Huawei has donated US$100,000 to Mozambique for completion of the construction project of the Mwanza Vocational School in the central province of Sofala, in a ceremony held Monday in Maputo. The donation was handed over by the Chinese ambassador to Mozambique, Su Jian, to the Minister of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Technical Professional, Jorge Nhambiu, according to Mozambican news agency AIM.

China became the main destination for beef produced in Brazil, only eight months after the Chinese authorities lifted an embargo after a case of BSE, or "mad cow" disease, in the state of Paraná, Brazilian newspaper Folha de São Paulo reported. From June 2015, when shipments were resumed, to January 2016 China bought Brazilian beef worth US$517 million. This accounted for 16 percent of total revenue from beef exports, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
